Weather in Mexico in June

The weather in June isn’t the greatest, it’s usually hot, humid, and wet. This doesn’t mean to say that you should avoid Mexico in June, there are still some great places to visit and just a little planning can make your trip more enjoyable.

The Atlantic Hurricane Season also runs from June to November so you may get a storm or two, but these don’t last longer than a day. While in general, we recommend that you avoid visiting during the hurricane season, it is really hit or miss as to whether you will get a storm or not.

When is Rainy season in Mexico?

The rainy season runs from May to October in Mexico so you will be visiting during the rainy season. This means you will likely see rain during your trip, but it very rarely rains all day. Just take an umbrella or a light rainproof coat and you will be fine!

Average Temperatures for Mexico in June

Mexico is huge so the average temperature will depend on where you’re visiting.

Temperatures can range between 83°F to 90°F depending on where you’re staying! It can feel slightly warmer too due to the humidity.

You can expect some rainfall and high temperatures across Mexico in June. If you are looking to avoid the heat, head towards the cities or smaller towns as it’s cooler inland.

Visiting cities like San Miguel de Allende, Valle de Guadalupe, Guadalajara, etc are a much better option during the month of June.

Why Visit Mexico in June

Honestly speaking, June often means one thing when traveling around Mexico. Rain!

With that being said, although June might not be the ideal time to visit in terms of weather, it will be less busy than the high-season months. You can take advantage of the smaller crowds and visit the top sights without the big long queues!

Just keep note that with hot, humid weather along with rain, this generally means that there will be more bugs and mosquitoes. I recommend packing some insect repellent to protect yourself.

Ok, so the weather isn’t the best in Cancun in June, but that doesn’t stop people from visiting.

The average temperature is around 97°F and the humidity is as high as 78% so it can get pretty uncomfortable. Make sure to wear light clothing and stay hydrated.

The best advice for Cancun in June is to plan plenty of water activities to cool off.

You will also see showers in June, but these should only last around an hour or two. However, if you visit during a tropical storm, it’s likely to rain all day.

Cancun Whale Sharks Season starts in June, and although you’ll need to book in advance as only 10 people are allowed per boat to protect the sharks, this is something you can’t miss.
