After spending a couple of days in Koh Lanta, we decided that we’re in love with it! Although we definitely feel that we didn’t spend enough time exploring the island, in our opinion, it only gives us more reason to go back for a visit.
Between its many uninhabited beaches, scenic motorbike rides, and friendly locals, Koh Lanta is definitely a place you should explore while you’re in Thailand. Since we loved the island so much, we’ve put together a list of the best places to stay in Koh Lanta for both hotels and hostels.
This fun hostel is one of the best places to stay in Koh Lanta if you’re looking for something affordable which is still close to the beach. Their location is fantastic and the vibe in the hostel is very cool.
The rooms here are basic but clean and comfortable, and they also offer female-only dorms for female travelers. For added privacy and comfort, opt for their chalet which has one queen bed and one single, enough for three people to share.
If you want to meet people, Hey Beach Hostel is very social and perfect for those that are traveling by themselves. The common areas are also a nice place to hang out.
Located a minute away from Klong Dao Beach, Diamond Sand Palace features native bungalows which are perfect for those who enjoy the island style vibe.
Although the rooms are basic, the fact that the bungalows are situated right by the beach makes up for it. You’ll also have your own balcony, perfect relaxing during the day or evening time.
Be sure to take the opportunity to dine at the on-site restaurant. It’s right on the beach, and guests have raved about the good food! The staff are accommodating and helpful and will be more than happy to help you book tours around the island.
As far as value for money goes, this place definitely wins!
Budget travelers, look no further! This modern-looking hostel has all the amenities that you need at a low price.
The dorm rooms are clean, comfortable and the mattresses are not paper thin. You even get a curtain for some privacy! To add even more value to staying there, they have a simple breakfast included in the room rate which is great.
Hub of Joys Hostel offers a social atmosphere for those looking to connect with fellow travelers, but it’s also quite enough at night that you can get a good night’s sleep. And if you ever need any help, the friendly hostel staff are available to assist. It’ll be a joyful stay indeed!

As for the resort itself, the grounds are beautiful as are the rooms. The rooms on the upper level come with fantastic views of the sea! If you’re too lazy to take yourself to the beach, choose one of the rooms with pool access for the ultimate indulgence.
This resort may be a bit far from where all the action is but if you just want to relax and soak in the sun, there isn’t a better place to be.

If you don’t mind being off the tourist path, take a look at Coco Lanta Resort. Located right by the beach, this is the place to be for some sun, sea, and relaxation.
The rooms here are simple but well-decorated. They offer family rooms which include bunk beds, making it a great choice for families or groups. One of our favorite features are the hammocks that are available for use outside the rooms.
But the highlight of this resort is the stunning pool which overlooks the ocean. You can easily spend the day lounging in the pool and sunbathing.
For those of you looking for a reasonably-priced place to stay, Coco Lanta is a good choice.

Best Luxury Places to Stay in Koh Lanta

Last but not least, having personally experienced the hospitality of staying at Crown Lanta, we will go as far as saying that this is really one of THE best places to stay on in Koh Lanta.
The resort has two pools, a fitness center, and ocean villas with stunning views of the ocean. Nestled on a cliffside property, they have a great pool as well as a private beach where you can watch the sun go down. Oh did I mention that they also have a reggae bar situated right by the beach?
The service of the staff and the overall quality of the rooms and facilities make staying at Crown Lanta worth every penny.
