1. Los Tacos de Humo 

Location: Los Tacos de Humo

If you’re looking for a stellar taco place to get your Mexican food fix, Los Tacos de Humo in Centro has what you need.

According to their website, they were voted “best tacos on Isla Mujeres,” so you know you can’t go wrong with one of their mouth-watering options (not to mention, they literally have a taco called “award-winning fish tacos”).

Wash these delicious flavors down with refreshing margaritas to make room for more tacos. And let’s hope you’re still hungry for dessert because the restaurant is even known to bring guests a round of complimentary fresh cinnamon donuts.

2. La Kantina De Los Tacos De Humo

Not to be confused with its sister restaurant, Los Tacos de Humo, La Kantina De Los Tacos De Humo is the latest addition to the taco joint, featuring more room inside with more tables available. 

Located in downtown Isla Mujeres, this restaurant was ranked #1 on TripAdvisor, so you know the tourists rave about it, from the service to the food.

This local favorite is the perfect place for breakfast and lunch. Located in Mid-Island Bay, the Mango Café greets you with a bright colorful atmosphere. 

The excitement of the place matches its deliciously tasty menu that’s full of options from excellent huevos rancheros to breakfast quesadillas, to french toast. 

Their coconut french toast and eggs benedict is worth traveling for! Pair it with their specialty espresso and you’ll be starting your day off on the right foot. If you’re looking for another brunch recommendation, we loved Northside Cafe!

4. Olivia

Location: Olivia

If you’re taking a break from the Mexican food on site, Olivia in Centro has a unique blend of Greek and Moroccan flavors in their food that’s made from scratch daily. 

Not to mention, these homemade delights are so big that you can share them with the table (or eat a whole plate for yourself). 

Dip your taste buds into the Greek salad, baba ganoush, pita bread, and curry chicken or skewers all located in a garden setting to set the aesthetic. 

5. Lola Valentina

Location: Lola Valentina

This spot may be super popular with travelers, but it’s not your average brunch tourist spot. Lola Valentina serves creative Caribbean fusion, starting with their blue corn empanadas and tamarind dipping sauce, to their coconut french toast, all the way to their lobster macaroni.

6. Capricci Pizza & Sfizi

Location: Capricci Pizza & Sfizi

If you’re craving some Italian food, Capricci Pizza & Sfizi offers fresh dishes, including wood-fired pizza, which is considered the best on the island. 

Their pizza, like the Pizza Margherita Reale, has a perfectly baked crust with the perfect portions of bread and sauce. Enjoy eating it in their warm and relaxed atmosphere that allows you to eat either indoors or outdoors. 

7. Casa Rolandi

Location: Casa Rolandi

A perfect spot for date night, Casa Rolandi in Sac Bajo offers romantic views of the ocean. The restaurants hide from the busy streets of the city and allow you to enjoy extravagant dining with excellent service and incredible food that’s inspired by Switzerland and Italy. 

Their pasta and seafood dishes are their biggest hits, like the black cod cooked Shiro miso style. For dessert, try their macaroon surprise…which is sure to be a delightful one.

8. Rosa Sirena’s Restaurant

Location: Rosa Sirena

Another romantic setting for date night, Rosa Sirena’s Restaurant features authentic Mexican seafood matched with tranquil ocean views that can be looked over while you’re dining on the second-floor rooftop. 

The casual yet intimate atmosphere makes any diner comfortable when enjoying meals, craft cocktails, and live music. 

9. Sunset Grill

Location: Sunset Grill

Sunset Grill boasts super authentic, Mexican seafood dishes that are like no other. Its blend of this large seafood selection with European cuisine and Mexican specialties created by the chef allows you to try a variety of good eats. 

The restaurant even states its food is treated with purified water and follows international standards of quality and health. Plus, they use USA-imported organic eggs and sea salt to protect your health.  

You can enjoy eating in a restaurant that matches the vibe of the island; white walls, and a breezy canopy-covered outdoor dining area. And, if you’re lucky enough to snag a table during sunset, you’ll be able to watch the beautiful hues of red and orange sink into the water. Talk about the perfect way to end the night. 

10. Fish & Gin 

Location: Fish and Gin

Located in Miguel Hidalgo, Fish & Gin brings great service, quality food, and fancy cocktails to combine into a perfect night out. And if the name doesn’t give it away, you can get a ton of good seafood here (like their tuna tostada) and some strong drinks that are vibrant and colorful, just like the restaurant! 

This was one of the favorite restaurants of the Adventure in You team when we visited Isla Mujeres!

It’s just a block from the main street, meaning you’re in a quieter location than those found on the main strip, so it’s perfect for a casual place where you can just enjoy your company.

11. Soggy Peso

Location: Soggy Pesto

While the name adds a bit of humor to your dining experience, the menu is no joke! Step foot into the Soggy Peso for delicious authentic Mexican food that will keep your stomach satisfied and happy, like lobster tacos and guacamole. 

Wash it down with their signature margarita, the Pain Killer. The outside eating area has a patio that overlooks the marina and offers ocean views. If you’re dining indoors, the decor inside features unique decorations on the ceiling. 

To make it even more personal, the space is covered with personal items that travelers leave behind as mementos. So if you plan on eating here, make sure you bring something for them to keep as a souvenir!

12. Samura

Location: Samura

Stray away from the traditional flavors of Mexican food in Isla Mujeres and try one of the several Asian food options on the island. Samura is highly rated, as people raved about the delicious Japanese cuisine along with the fun theme of the jungle bar. 

One TripAdvisor reviewer even said “This place is amazing 🙂 the waiters are super friendly and genuinely nice. The Habachi chef is amazing to watch and brings you into the show. The music is great and interactive. The food is out of this world and in amazing proportions. Next time I am on the island I will visit this place again.”

13. Geisha Valentina

Location: Geisha Valentina

Another Asian hot spot in Isla Mujeres, Geisha Valentina is the sister restaurant of Lola Valentina with different (but just as delicious) food options, including items off their main menu like including pad thai, chicken satay, gyozas, ramen, and green papaya salad. 

You can also enjoy hibachi at one of their two teppanyaki tables, and eat their fresh sushi where you can see the sushi chef prepare the rolls right in front of you. 

The restaurant was so good, one review on TripAdvisor said “some friends on the island insisted that this was the sushi place and they spoke the truth. We gave it a shot a few nights ago and we were impressed. The rolls are huge and very, very good. We cannot wait to go back!”

14. Marakame Isla Mujeres

Location: Marakame Isla Mujeres

You’ll find the recently opened Marakame Isla Mujeres just a few doors down from Samura serving opposite food choices. At this restaurant, you can start your day with breakfast that reviewers are raving about. 

A bite of their french toast and a sip of their coffee will transport you to a whole new world. They also provide lunch options for your midday break. All are great options for those going out to explore coming from the Nomads hostel. 

Their restaurant is a themed garden and jungle so you can feel like you’re eating in the wild. Marakame also has a sister restaurant in Cancun, so if you ever visit, you can know exactly what to expect and find comfort in delicious food. 

15. Guru Beach Club & Restaurant by Lotus

Location: Guru Beach Club

Called a “unique and exclusive beach oasis,” Guru Beach Club & Restaurant by Lotus offers a twofer- fine dining and an exclusive club. The hotel’s beach club, Guru, is a private space with a modern design. 

The club includes a pool, sun beds, beach-front access, and of course, a delicious restaurant. The restaurant itself consists of international dishes with a “touch of originality” as well as consists of fresh seafood and vegetarian options. 

Stay for the bar that has high-quality signature cocktails featuring exotic fruits and herbs. Plus, you’ll have all-day entertainment with music by either a live band or a DJ. And yes, the beach club is open to the general public, so even if you’re not staying there, you’re welcome to come and dine. 

16. Xantolo

Location: Xantolo

Although they moved locations in 2020, you’re still getting the same charm that Xantolo has always offered. It has become a hot spot for hanging out and enjoying the bustling day and nightlife Isla Mujeres has to offer. 

A great place to eat, dance, drink, and just vibe, it makes for one of the most lively places to visit. Aside from the superb service, you’ll also have the opportunity to listen to some live salsa music late at night from 10:30 PM to 12:30 AM. 

While open until late, they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so you can visit any time of day!

17. Beachin’ Burrito

Location: Beachin’ Burrito

In a more relaxed environment, Beachin’ Burrito brings you a California-style burrito. Open for breakfast and lunch, as well as a beachy snack, this shack was founded by musician Ryan Rickman and reopened in January 2021 under new ownership without changing the delicious burrito options like the Cali Classic, the Texas Fajita, Grilled Portobello, or Grilled Fish burrito. 

Top them with mild or spicy salsa Roja and enjoy homemade refried beans for breakfast or garlic butter fried potatoes for lunch. 

This quick-service hot spot has limited outdoor seating, but you can grab and go and go and relax under a palm tree on the beach. 

18. Madera Food & Art

Location: Madera Food and Art

Let’s be real, food is a type of art, especially when it looks amazing and tastes even better. The combination of flavors works together to give your taste buds an explosive party in your mouth. 

At Madera Food & Art, you’re getting handcrafted hamburgers that have been deemed “the best burger on the island” and “the best hamburger ever” by visitors. Eat your burgers sitting outside under the palapa while pieces of art and ocean waves surround you. 

Then, when your stomach is happy and satisfied, treat your eyes to the Art Gallery. Here you’ll be able to see beautiful arts and crafts created by locals.
