Want an honest review of SunGod sunglasses? In this article, I walk you through our honest opinion on these sunglasses and give you a final verdict if they are worth the price or not.

I have to admit that I am one of those people who always buy crappy cheap sunglasses. Even though sunglasses are a staple in my everyday life, I can never seem to bring myself to buy a pair which I know will break in a month.

With that in mind, when we first heard about SunGod and their “Adventure Proof ” sunglasses, I have to say I was intrigued. Given that I hate having foggy lenses and always worry about UV protection for my eyes, my partner Tom and I agreed it was time to find a pair that suited our lifestyle.

We decided to put our SunGod sunglasses on the ultimate adventure test by taking them with us to Everest Basecamp.

Update: We’ve been using our SunGod glasses for over 2 years now and have also ordered ourselves 4 more pairs because we love them so much. The brand also honors their lifetime guarantee which is awesome as not many brands do that! For us, they are awesome, inexpensive adventure proof sunglasses.

SunGod Review

I have recently updated this article so to cut things short, we’re now on our fourth pair of sunglasses (the other two are still alive- we just wanted new styles) and it’s safe to say that we love them! We have various designs and use them in our everyday life, including for cycling which my partner Tom recently picked up.

They are pretty sturdy and are relatively inexpensive, considering you fully get to customize each pair. In the section below, I will walk you through why we love them and what makes them stand out.

Customizable Sunglasses

One of the things I love the most about SunGod is that they are fully customizable. Like a kid in a candy shop, you can mix and match your lenses and frames and even purchase additional lens kits if you feel like updating your look and style.

As mentioned, our main motivation behind ordering high-quality eyewear was because we were heading to Everest Basecamp. We knew that we would be facing some pretty harsh conditions so getting a high-quality pair that was polarized was essential.

For our trip, we both choose the Renegades style which featured their trademark 4k optic lenses. There are three parts that you can customize, the frame, the lenses, and the color of the SunGod icons on the side. During this process, you can also opt to get their standard lenses or their polarized 4ko lenses.

SunGod Glasses: What Are They Made Of?

Driven by the fact that most expensive sunglasses brands break too easily, the team behind SunGod wanted to create high-quality eyewear that was both affordable and would last a lifetime.

This is why they dubbed their glasses “Adventure Proof” which meant that it has a lifetime guarantee against breakage. This means that they will repair or replace the glasses free of charge.

I have to admit that one of the reasons why I can never keep a pair of sunglasses is also because I am the world’s biggest clutz.

Throughout the duration of me having these glasses, I had managed to drop them over a waterfall, they slipped out of my shirt while I was scrambling up a cliff, not to mention the few times I dropped them en route to Everest Base Camp.

I’m happy to say that not only has my Renegades survived all that and more, but the lenses also are still scratch free and looks as good as new which in my opinion is pretty damn impressive. Tom even jokingly teased that he was happy we found these as they are “Anna-proof.”

For all you sunglasses pros out there, the frames are made out of a durable memory polymer which makes it insanely flexible. Listed below are a few of the tech specs of the eyewear.

SunGod Tech Specs:

  • 100% UV Protection
  • Triple Layer Scratch Resistance Lens
  • Flexible Frame
  • Anti-Reflective Lens Coating
  • 2mm Polycarbonate Lens (4ko)

What We Like About SunGod

Polarize Lenses

Besides the fact that they are super sturdy, the lens quality is amazing. I choose the Polarized 4ko Fire while Tom went with the Polarized 4ko Blue as both these lenses had low VLT (visible light transmission) which is essential in snowy places.

The lens quality is pretty amazing, always letting in just the right amount of sunlight which we loved. Tom has had Laser Eye surgery done and although his eyesight is now 20/10, he tends to be very sensitive when it comes to bright lights so having a good pair with him on our adventures was a game changer.

Customizable

I love the fact that all the SunGod sunglasses are customizable as it just makes the process of designing your lens so much more fun. I am already debating on ordering another lens kit just so I can change things up when I tire of the look.

My most recent ones, the Sierras has a matte tortoise finish with bright pink lenses that I love. You can also customize the side icons, adding a great finish to the overall look of the sunglasses.

Price

Last but not least, I love how affordable these sunglasses are! Compared to big brands out there, their sunnies start at £45 ($56) and £70 ($88) for polarized lenses. Considering they also offer a lifetime guarantee, this is a pretty good deal in my opinion.

For our last pair, Tom decided to order the Pacebreakers and compared to the cost of other triathlon friendly sunglasses, the Sungods are a great deal.

World Wide Shipping

Living in Thailand, we’re quite limited when it comes to online shopping which was why we loved the fact that our SunGods arrived straight away. It took about a week or so and arrived without any issues. If you live in the US or UK, you will most likely receive your pair quite quickly.

What We Dislike

While the good definitely outweighs the bad, the lenses for the glasses are not completely scratch proof. We’ve been using our classics for over two years now and while they are 100% still wearable, the lenses do have a few scratches.

However, the beauty of it is that if you want to give your sunglasses an update, you can just order a new set of lenses which will leave your SunGod glasses as good as new.

SunGod Designs

As mentioned, over the years, we’ve tried out a few of their designs (and love them all). Listed below are just a few of the different designs of SunGod.

Custom Classics

If you’re looking for basic sunglasses, the SunGod Classics are a popular style that pretty much suits every type of face. These classics are the same ones that we used in Everest Basecamp. They were great in battling the reflection of the snow and were bright and colorful enough.

Custom Sierras

These bad boys are the newest pairs of Sungods that I am rocking and I am absolutely in love with them! I love the overall retro look and adore the pink lenses. I got the polarized ones and couldn’t be happier when I received my pair.

Custom Pacebreakers

If you’re looking for sunglasses for use for cycling or triathlons, the Custom Pacebreakers are a great option. Tom has been using his for his iron man training and couldn’t be happier. The lens make it super easy to see in the sun, blocking out all the glare which is needed when you’re doing active stuff early in the morning or even mid day

Custom Renegades

This is one of SunGods most popular pair and is great because of its versatility. Although very similar to the Classics, these square-shaped lenses are great for most faces. Again, like all the other SunGods, they are completely customizable so you can go crazy in choosing the colors of the lenses and more.

Overall Thoughts on SunGod

Overall, these sunglasses are well made, affordable, and pretty sturdy. So if you’re looking for a pair of sunglasses to take with you on your adventures, these bad boys are perfect for the job. While we love the fact that you can customize and create your own pair, we’ve found that the lenses do tend to scratch up a bit, especially if you choose a bright color like red or pink.

Given that we travel for a living, we’re super happy that we’ve found a decent pair of sunglasses to take with us as we adventure around the world.

Our Review: Sungod Sunglasses

Sungod sunglasses are a sturdy, adventure brand which make affordable sunglasses that actually look good.
