Nothing says “romantic retreat” like a charming cabin in the middle of the woods, so consider surprising your partner with a stay at this Whidbey Island Airbnb.
The vibrant interior combines every color of the rainbow into a cohesive, eye-catching unit, and the loft bed offers an unprecedented view of your natural surroundings. The downstairs area features a nice little kitchen, and the bathroom, complete with a walk-in shower, is the epitome of style.
Beautiful, private gardens are one thing, but having an entire forest as your backyard is quite impressive, even by Whidbey standards. Whether you’re out traversing the woods or relaxing on the patio, the general area really is a sight for sore eyes.
Why We Love It: Cozy and colorful house nestled in a gorgeous forest.
What Past Guests Have Said: “Mandeja’s cottage was amazing! My boyfriend and I went there to have a nice, peaceful retreat away from the city. The cottage is surrounded by a beautiful forest and the inside of the cottage was as cozy as the photos looked! We cooked all our meals there and we had all the tools needed for it. The loft style of the cottage was so much fun. We also spent quite a bit of time reading on the nice reading nook/couch. Though we didn’t get a chance to meet Mandeja, she provided us with all the information we needed and we had no troubles at all! We will definitely be recommending her cottage to our friends and family. Thank you Mandeja!”
Type: Entire Home (1BR, 1B)
If you want your small child to catch the travel bug early, you should vacation in this beautiful Airbnb in Whidbey Island.
Although it’s technically a house for three (2 adults and an infant), the abundance of open space will give your little tike plenty of room to practice his or her strut. All the while, you can keep an eye on things from the well-stocked kitchen or the comfortable bedroom.
Even if you don’t have little ones, this Whidbey Island retreat makes for the perfect romantic getaway for a couple, with an enchanting porch swing and million dollar views.
Langley is a great place to stay if you want to do some sightseeing. Aside from the nearby Earth Sanctuary and Dancing Fish Winery, you’ll be able to reach Freeland and Double Bluff Beach within minutes.
Why We Love It: Perfect getaway for a small family or couple & close to every notable attraction in South Whidbey.
What Past Guests Have Said: “We really enjoyed staying at Genie’s place. The setting was peaceful. We enjoyed walking the grounds including visiting the pond. The apartment was very comfortable and clean. We loved the radiant floor heating. It was the getaway we were hoping for and more.”
“A delightful getaway both cozy and efficient. The view is spectacular and place is very private. The full kitchen was wonderful for cooking up good eats. The extras are too many to list but check them out pond and porch especially. I was delighted to find a working record player and fully stocked record cabinet with LPs. I would definitely come back again.”
Type: Entire Home (2BR, 2B)
Location: Just outside of Oak Harbor
After a wonderful weekend spent at this home with your family, you’ll wish you could call this beautiful Whidbey Island Airbnb your own home.
Inside, you’ll have access to two comfortable beds, a nice kitchen, and two bathrooms. The cutesy decorations perfectly capture the essence of staying on a farm, and you’ll have plenty of board games for all ages to keep your evenings entertaining. Special mention goes to the patio for its cozy atmosphere and beautiful views of the property!
As is the case for most farming communities, there’s little to no noise in the area to put a damper on your stay. If you need a break from the rural setting, Oak Harbor is only 3 miles away.
Why We Love It: Tranquil getaway that’s still very close to one of Whidbey’s major cities.
What Past Guests Have Said: “Always an exceptional place to stay! Feels like home.”
“We had a fantastic experience. The house was great, and we loved feeding all the animals. We definitely plan to go back.”
“Pam & Al are always quick to reply and address any concerns or questions. They are great hosts and always go the extra mile to make your stay memorable, greats folks and a great place to get away, we’ll certainly be back again!”
Type: Entire Home (1BR, 1B)
Another in a long list of Whidbey Island Airbnbs for two, this pet-friendly house demonstrates just how much a great location can add to your holiday.
The queen bed, homey kitchen, and spacious, open-floor design all come together to create a memorable interior. For the real kicker, though, take a look through the living room window… The garden is nothing short of incredible, but that’s just the beginning.
Perched upon a hill 3 miles from Freeland, the house offers panoramic views of the Cascade Range and Useless Bay, which is infinitely more scenic than what the name may suggest! In addition, you can catch a tan and walk your pooch at the nearby Double Bluff Beach Park.
Why We Love It: Charming house that offers some of the best vistas in all of Whidbey.
What Past Guests Have Said: “Mendeja’s apartment was a perfect little get-away place, especially with our dog. The dog-friendly Double Bluff Beach is a quick trip down the hill, so her day started with a beach walk every morning. My day started by watching the sun rise over the Cascade range, easily viewed from everywhere in the apartment and the patio. Beautiful!”
“We really enjoyed our stay at Mandeja’s place! The view is even more beautiful than the photos, and the space feels very cozy and peaceful. Being dog friendly was a huge plus, and we appreciated the doggie bowls, treats, and easy trash receptacle for poo bags. We also loved the location of the apartment for getting around to various sights on Whidbey. It was the perfect spot for a little weekend getaway with my husband!”
Type: Entire Home (1 BR, 1B)
Location: Quiet neighborhood near Freeland
This Whidbey Island Airbnb is a radiant alternative to the first property on our list. Aside from the gorgeous color palette, the tranquil wooded setting is another quality they have in common.
The decor and old-world furniture in this home give the interior a distinct hippie vibe. The kitchen/dining area is spacious and airy, and the bedroom will lure you in with its Incan Sun mural and window views. You also soak in the sights from the deck and garden, or slip on some hiking shoes and go for a scenic picnic!
Everyone living in the area has a relatively large property, so you won’t hear a peep out of your neighbors during your stay, but you can always take a two-mile walk to the nearby town of Freeland for a little bit of action.
Why We Love It: Colorful throwback property, perfect for connecting with nature.
What Past Guests Have Said: “We keep coming back to this awesome little house in the woods and it feels like home. It truly is bohemian and quirky but Mandeja has thought of everything and we love staying there. We’ll be back again!”
“I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Mandeja’s cottage. It was so incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating – just what I needed. It’s probably one of the most inspiring of any rentals I’ve been to (and I’ve been to a lot) for simply retreating, because of all the little artistic touches and vibrant color, the warmth, the comfy seating options, the trees all around, not to mention a fully equipped kitchen. The place is also exceptionally clean and Mandeja clearly takes extra care to ensure her guests are comfortable. I had a lovely time! I’ll definitely be back again to this sweet cottage in the woods.”
Type: Entire Home (2BR, 1.5B)
Location: Oak Harbor
What happens when the ultimate beach house meets one of the prettiest beaches in the States? You get one of the best Airbnbs in Whidbey Island, and a vacation you’ll remember for life!
Unwinding to the sound of crashing waves in front of an amazing fireplace should be on every adventurer’s bucket list, and there’s no better place for that than The Salty Barnacle. The tranquil song of the ocean will inspire you to put the kitchen to good use, and the calming setting and 2 comfortable beds make falling asleep a cinch.
If you’ve ever wondered where those scenic postcard pictures come from, the deck and “birdwatching room” should give you an idea. Grab a pair of binoculars and prepare to be amazed.
Why We Love It: Gorgeous beach house with direct access to the ocean.
What Past Guests Have Said: “I had such a great weekend getaway with my husband at the Salty Barnacle, it was so relaxing. Loved being on the water and the spectacular views! The beach house was cozy also very clean and fully stocked. I would stay there again!”
“I don’t even want to share how fabulous this place is because I want it all for me!! Five stars straight across the board!”
“This house has unparalleled views of the ocean and the sunset in the evenings. It’s cute and romantic and has plenty of room to lounge and play games. Note: the big windows are gorgeous but a little chilly in the fall. Fortunately, Cherrise provided plenty of cozy blankets. Overall a great place for a low-key weekend retreat!”
Type: Entire Home (1BR, 1B)
You don’t have to resort to sleeping in an isolated toolshed to get some peace and quiet… Instead, you can become one with the forest at this beautiful Whidbey Island Airbnb.
The light colors, wooden furniture, and minimalistic decorations of this house all work splendidly, especially in the kitchen and bedroom. After stepping out of bed, you can open the patio doors and wake yourself up with an incredible view of the backyard, complete with a fire pit and seating.
The Freeland area truly has it all, from golf courses and wine cellars to some of the most scenic hiking and biking trails on the Island. There’s enough here to keep your vacation going for weeks on end.
Why We Love It: Private cottage with a large backyard surrounded by trees.
What Past Guests Have Said: “This little house/cottage is just as advertised. The finishes and flooring have been updated throughout, freshly painted, and the decor is lovely. For someone with bad knees like me, there are only two steps to get to the front door, and an easy walk-in shower. Most of the square footage is taken up by the bedroom, and we slept, played cards, ate dinner, and watched tv from the king sized bed. We appreciated the comfortable mattress, and extra pillows. Though the kitchen is small, there are dishes and cutlery, and we were able to meet our needs with the countertop oven, toaster, microwave, Keurig and hot plate burners. There is also a small dining table, stacked washer/dryer and apartment sized refrigerator. Although Whidbey Island doesn’t have a lot of “chain” restaurants, there is a Dairy Queen, and plenty of other “Mom & Pop” restaurants and grocery stores. We had a wonderful weekend getaway for my husband’s birthday!”

Location: Langley, near the South Whidbey Harbor
When considering a rental for your vacation, no amount of space is too much. Take a look at The Cabin at Langley, a Whidbey Island Airbnb that houses up to 6 guests.
The cabin features 2 bedrooms and is neighbored by a cottage with an additional third. The kitchen comes equipped with everything you might need, and although the house is covered in windows, not a single room feels overwhelmingly bright.
Your stay here will be off-grid in some ways, as the house forsakes the classic TV room in favor of a solid library and loads of games. Between that and the ravishing garden, you won’t miss the small screen one bit!
Why We Love It: Roomy house with an additional sleeping cottage and a breathtaking exterior.
What Past Guests Have Said: “Truly one of the best Airbnbs I’ve stayed in. The hosts really care about this place and graciously share it with their guests – stocked with everything you might need to cook with, cozy linens, games, and books, plenty of space for friends, in a private location but not remote. Tim is a great host!”
“Tim’s place is a special place for our family. We have stayed here before & will definitely come for another stay in the future! Great location, quiet and perfect for a relaxing get away.”
“This place is so peaceful. Our family loved reading, playing family games, and visiting with one another in this cool house. It is conveniently located as well.”
Type: Entire Home (2BR, 1B)
Location: Scatchet Head, Clinton
Whidbey Island Airbnbs are renowned for their scenic nature backdrops, and this amazing cottage is the perfect example.
Boasting an incredible deck and garden overlooking the ocean, this house is in the running for the best-situated rental in the area. The interior is arguably just as gorgeous – aside from the two great bedrooms, spa-style bathroom, and eye-catching kitchen, the living room stands out thanks to its fashionable layout and those unmistakable Whidbey window views.
Staying in Scatchet Head comes with its share of perks, most notably the private beach and quiet surroundings. If you’re looking to take an epic picture to commemorate your trip, you can’t go wrong with a Clinton sunset over a gilded horizon!
Why We Love It: Modern cottage located in one of the most beautiful parts of Whidbey Island.
What Past Guests Have Said: “This place is a dream! Super easy to get to from the Clinton ferry terminal and easy access to lots of restaurants and local spots on Whidbey. The place is cozy and simple and was the perfect landing spot to get away without driving hours and hours. Will happily come back here again and again!”
“Cozy, pretty, warm, a great kitchen and with good places to visit nearby. Definitely going to look back at this place if we ever stay on Whidbey again!”
“We had a lovely weekend in Sheila & Kim’s place. Great location!”
Type: Entire Home (1BR, 1B)
Location: Downtown Coupeville
Coupeville is the place to be if you want to take in as much of Whidbey’s history and beauty as possible, and this is one of the best rentals in town.
A Whidbey Island Airbnb needs a good location and an interior that doesn’t overshadow the landscapes that surround it, and this place delivers on both fronts. Sporting a predominantly white interior, two fluffy beds, and a respectable kitchen, the suite offers the very best in oceanside accommodation.
Penn Cove would have been enough to pitch this place, but staying in Downtown Coupeville puts you within walking distance of the island’s most distinguished landmarks and locales.
Why We Love It: Lavish and comfortable suite located in one of Whidbey’s most beautiful towns.
What Past Guests Have Said: “If you want a quaint and quiet suite with a view, than this is it! Wonderful food and plenty of lavender. Take in the atmosphere of what Coupeville offers up for visitors. We would recommend this to everyone!”
“Located in a cute little town of Coupeville and within walking distance to the pier and shops.”
“What a perfect getaway in a quaint historical town! The location is ideal—steps from shops, restaurants, and the beautiful waterfront. We truly enjoyed our stay and will certainly be returning!”
Type: Entire Home (4BR, 2.5B)
Location: Freeland, near Earth Sanctuary
This Whidbey Island Airbnb is a childhood fever dream given form. A medieval-style blast from the past in Freeland, this home features an incredibly elegant interior.
The furniture’s earth tones and the hazy-green plants make for a very potent combo, one that gives the salon its distinctive, Middle Age vibe. The four bedrooms are nothing to scoff at either, and every room in the house (including the kitchen) is covered in beautiful art and decorations. Even the bathrooms command respect – you could wrinkle in the tub for hours as you enjoy the view from the skylight.
Doves, alpacas, and a slew of other animals call this property home, and breakfast eggs taste even better when you know the chickens are home-grown.
Why We Love It: Unique rental that sets a precedent for alternative housing.
What Past Guests Have Said: “Thank you Lauren for sharing your beautiful get away with us, what a treat. We live in an urban area with traffic going constantly. It was relaxing to stroll the estate and lounge in the various areas of the farm. The front porch has lovely views of the sea and Mt. Rainer. The back patio is comfy and offers lovely moments of the decor, the trees and the wider back gardens. We miss having our meals outdoors in the small garden surrounded by gorgeous sweet flower and apple blossom aromas. Eating the fruit off the trees was an unexpected delight. Did I mention the alpacas and Mocha the llama? We got to hand feed them! Such sweet girls, Yoga is the extrovert, Carmella is a sweetheart, who couldn’t love Iilypad and her sweet eyes? We miss them. The farm is easy to get to and there are so many extraordinary things to do on the farm and on Whidbey Island itself. Thank you for a much needed break and some rest and recovery. Many blessings to you and yours”
Type: Entire Home (1BR, 1B)
If you have an anniversary coming up, do yourself and your relationship a favor by booking this Whidbey Island Airbnb.
Aside from the obligatory bedroom and kitchen, the house features virtually everything you could imagine, and then some. The open-floor living/dining area is magnificent, and you’ll feel reborn after 15 minutes in the two-person infrared sauna.
Set the mood with a glass of wine and a classic soul record, or step out onto the deck and start a fire in the pit for the view of a lifetime. Holmes Harbor is absolutely stunning, and if the water isn’t to your liking, you can always take a dip in the hot tub instead.
For a special night out, consider driving out to Langley, Coupeville, or Clinton, or stay in the Freeland area and pick out a restaurant for a romantic dinner.
Why We Love It: One of Whidbey’s definitive couples retreats.
What Past Guests Have Said: “Super beautiful inside and out. Loved the hot tub down by the water!”
“Jennifer’s place is absolutely wonderful and she’s a fantastic host. The view from the building is to die for and the hot tub (a short walk from the house) is so close to the water! Jennifer must have the greenest thumb because the house plants were all so healthy and make the place feel extra welcoming. Jennifer’s been so thoughtful and provides plenty of towels for the spa, shower, makeup removal, and robes for the sauna. The kitchen was stocked with every kind of glass you might want for whatever you’re drinking as well as coffee, tea, and hot cocoa!”
Type: Entire Home (5BR, 2B)
Most Whidbey Island Airbnbs are either on farms or beaches, and this incredible house is a blend of both.
The interior is quite slick yet built for mobility. You and up to five other guests will have no trouble getting around thanks to all the open space. You’ll have access to five bedrooms and a large kitchen, as well as a dining/living room area, complete with a fireplace and a piano for singing your favorite sea shanties!
For a million-dollar view of the property, step out onto the deck and grill up some delicious barbecue before hitting Double Bluff Beach, the centerpiece of Useless Bay and the Langley Area at large.
Why We Love It: Large, inviting house with an open-concept design and a good location.
What Past Guests Have Said: “Adorable farmhouse home with an amazing view!”
“Great house with beautiful view. The double kitchen made it easy to cook our Thanksgiving feast, but the lack of microwave leftovers tricky. The kids were sad that the treehouse outside was mostly collapsed, but they enjoyed the closet of toys inside.”
“This was a great house for a weekend getaway! Lots of space in and outside of the house, we really didn’t have any complaints!”
Type: Entire Home (2BR, 1.5B)
Located in beautiful Langley, this Whidbey Island Airbnb is the type of place to keep you coming back for more every year.
The house is an amalgamation of retro and modern that still looks completely natural, and nowhere is this more evident than in the airy living room and two bedrooms. One part of the house that breaks the mold, however, is the kitchen, where every appliance is brand-spanking new and waiting to be put to good use.
Realistically speaking, what you’re really paying for here is an amazing view, as the ocean is only a few steps away. In addition, Langley is full of incredible restaurants, charming businesses, and other locales that’ll keep this vacation fresh in your memory banks for a long time.
Why We Love It: Fashionable house located in the very heart of Langley
What Past Guests Have Said: “Lisa and Joe’s condo is a lovely place close to Langley’s waterfront and cute little boutique stores. The kitchen is perfectly equipped and the cozy living room has a fireplace which invites to have cozy movie nights. Location: Quiet Clinton neighborhood
It’s impossible to fault this Airbnb on Whidbey Island in any way, as it would qualify as one of the area’s best rentals by anyone’s standards.
The open floor plan kitchen/dining area is incredibly sunny and offers a hypnotizing view of the ocean, as do most of the five bedrooms. While sitting in the upstairs entertainment room, you might find yourself tempted to turn off the TV just to admire the ocean’s lull. As if things weren’t scenic enough, you can even see the Olympic range on clearer days, all while relaxing in the outdoor hot tub.
Although the house is in a tiny Clinton neighborhood, you’ll have easy access to all you really need: a grocery store and the impeccable Cultus Bay!
Why We Love It: Quiet place to get away from it all and enjoy some spectacular views of the ocean.
What Past Guests Have Said: “The place is absolutely beautiful with a serene view. There were plenty of rooms and bathrooms to accommodate our family. The game room in the garage had more activities than we anticipated and it was an absolute blast! The host was super responsive. We would recommend the home to anyone.”
“Came here with a group of ten and we had a wonderful stay! The house was perfect for our size and we were able to enjoy all the amenities provided (air hockey, foosball, pool, hottub, and fire). Communication was also excellent and very accommadating. Would definitely recommend this place for others and come back again.”
