Chiang Mai is a place in Northern Thailand that has undoubtedly captured our hearts in an instant. So much so that we decided to base ourselves here for at least 6 months while we build this blog and develop our Lifestyle App, GetStoked. Between its mountainous areas, great street food, lively markets, and awesome people, we love it here! Living here also means that we are commonly asked by friends and our readers on where to stay in Chiang Mai. This is what prompted us to compile this list of the best places to stay in Chiang Mai for Hotels and Hostels.

  • Andra

This is a very useful list as I am heading to Chiang Mai this winter. That Grace House really looks nice! Thanks

  • Loving the rooms in the anantara. I just stayed in a little guesthouse off the moat which worked fine but not luxurious

  • Great list of hotels to suit all budgets. We stayed in a place called the Top Garden Boutique Hotel – around the $$ range for a private room, close to the center and with lovely facilities (even though it had a small wetroom/bathroom) – I’d highly recommend it!

  • We’ve done a lot of the South and Islands of Thailand, so naturally the North is now on our list. We are planning on heading there next year and want to do a long term stay at one place. Do you know of any (cheap, but nice) long stay hotels or apartments to recommend? I know some people find places that are dirt cheap yet have pools, gyms, cleaning etc

    • There are literally loads @EconomicalExcursionists:disqus We are renting a small condo for $240 for the whole month? Pool, gym and all! It’s unreal!

  • Wow, some of these places are really amazing! Chiang Mai is impressive, you can find rooms from $5 a night to $500 or even more. A place for any budget. Great list, I’ll forward this to my dad who is coming to visit me soon in Chiang Mai 🙂 Thank you for putting this together.

    • Thanks! My parents are coming over next week and I did exactly the same as well.

  • Never been to Chiang Mai but I will definitely be bookmarking this for the future. Some of these places look incredible! 🙂

  • The pool at Anantara had my heart in a second. I these posts with the many options for different budgets, thank you!

  • Love that there’s so many options for all kinds of budgets. I want to go spend a month in Chiang Mai just to say I have.

    • It’s so affordable to stay here as well for that long!

  • Lauren @BonVoyageLauren

All of these look and sound like great options! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  • Jen Ryder

My husband and I love Chiang Mai! We’ve been twice now and I’m sure we’ll be back there again. We always end up staying near the moat in whichever guest house our tuk tuk driver recommends (usually we look at a few), but next time we’ll have to check out one of these great options you mentioned! Baan Klang Wiang or Peaberry look right up our alley!
