Located in the heart of Chiang Mai’s trendy district Nimmana Haeminda, Akrya Manor Chiang Mai was a hotel that had truly surprised us in many ways. As we travel for a living, staying in hotels is something that we’re pretty used to. From humble hostels, local guesthouses, boutique resorts, to five-star hotels, we’ve stayed in them all. Very rarely is it that we leave a place gushing about small details-until our stay at Akrya Manor Chiang Mai that is.

Akrya Manor: The Trendiest Boutique Hotel in Chiang Mai

Whenever we can, we choose to stay in boutique hotels over large hotel chains. Although most of these hotel chains have the whole hospitality thing worked out to a tee, we like the character that small boutique hotels have. As soon as we entered the hotel, we were greeted with warm smiles from their friendly staff. The lobby which doubled as a dining room area was elegantly decorated with large steel structures which doubled as light fixtures mimicking trees. It was a bold statement and really made us intrigued about what type of decor to expect throughout the whole place.

We were escorted to our room, a deluxe suite which had the largest tub imaginable as well as a little private courtyard. The room was very modern, equipped with a sound system which you can control from the room’s iPod, Nespresso machines, as well as a large television and wifi. Everything in the room was well laid out, giving off a feeling of luxury and comfort all at the same time.

Everything from the customizable pillows (you can request for different pillow types and ask for different pillow mists to the luxurious 430-thread count Egyptian Cotton sheets made our stay nothing short of relaxing. The large rain shower, the his and her bathrobes, to the spacious dressing/office area, this place was beyond beautiful.

However, above the insanely soft bedsheets, what we loved the most were the small touches that the hotel had all over the room. In our mini bar area, the hotel had a calendar featuring a different drink of the day. Every day, the staff would change this and would provide you the ingredients so you can be your own mixologist, allowing you to make the most delicious cocktails from the comforts of your own hotel room.

Beside your bed, the staff would lovingly place a bottle of herbal sleep drink that was sugar-free to help you have a good night’s rest. Although seemingly insignificant, these small touches made us enjoy our stay at Akrya Manor even more. The only downside that I could point out was that the wifi was sparse in our room at some times. akrya-cm-drinks

The Food at Akrya Manor

Every morning during breakfast, there was a buffet of cold items laid out. Guests could help themselves to a variety of fresh juices, cereal, an assortment of cheese and bread. While the buffet alone would have sufficed, as soon as you sat down on a table, the staff will bring you a three-tiered platter with fruits, croissants, and an Asian dish which you can sample at your own discretion.

Taking it to another level, you can also order two dishes from their extensive breakfast menu. Anything from traditional Thai/Asian dishes to classic Western fares like eggs benedict, crepes, pancakes, etc. You name it, you could probably order it. This breakfast bonanza caught us off-guard as we indulged ourselves in a variety of savory and sweet dishes.

As we were too stuffed from breakfast to order anything else from their menu, we’ve walked past people who were happily eating in the hotel’s contemporary Italian restaurant, Italics.

The Location of Akrya Manor and the Facilities

As we’re no stranger to Chiang Mai, Akrya Manor is undoubtedly located in one of the best neighborhoods in the city. Surrounded by trendy coffee shops, bars, and restaurants, we love being able to walk anywhere. Although it isn’t located near the Old Town or the Night Bazaar area, the hotel offers a free daily shuttle to the night market just for guests. It is also very easy to take an Uber or ride a local songthaew to go anywhere you want.

Last but not the least, when we went up to the roof deck to check out the pool/ bar area, it is safe to say that Akrya Manor’s pool is one of the coolest that we’ve seen in the city! They also have nightly bar specials so even if you’re not a guest, you can head on up to their rooftop cocktail bar to enjoy a few drinks while overlooking the rest of Chiang Mai.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Akrya Manor Chaing Mai. It is a hotel I would highly recommend to anyone and is a place I would gladly stay at again. The staff were incredibly accommodating and the hotel was so tastefully decorated and was full of character and charm.
