We arrived in Bali with a few goals. To hustle and grow our business, get better at surfing, and get fit. Now for those who need a bit of a background, given that I travel for a living, I rarely get time to stick to a proper fitness schedule. I’m always on and off planes, buses, boats, and trains. Second is that I love food. Like seriously love food. I love trying out local flavors and exotic spices. I love trying out street food, no matter how dodgy they seem. Heck, I even love cooking food (which is one of the reasons why slow travel works for us). This combined with not having a fixed routine has left me a tad bit out of shape which is why one of the first things I did as soon as I got to Bali was to check various fitness classes which is how I found 2BeFitBali.
2BeFitBali: Bali’s Best Beach Bootcamp
I found Gede and his team online and decided to give his classes a go. While I’ve done small bouts of circuit training before, I didn’t really know what to expect. As I was doing the classes in Canggu, I walked past Old Man’s until I saw a small group of people congregating by the beach. The classes of 2BeFitBali are done right on the beach (rain or shine) and is a good mix of circuit training, HIIT, and weights. To be perfectly honest, the first time I trained with Gede and his team, I almost passed out! Despite the fact that I just returned from a two-week trip trekking in Nepal, man I was out of shape!
I spent the next few weeks attending the sessions and slowly, I could feel myself getting stronger and stronger. Soon, I managed to convince my partner Tom to join me. The classes are super fun and there is always a good variety of things to do. While each session is a challenge to get through, working out as a big group is also a good motivating factor.

What Should You Expect
2BeFitBali has had huge success which is why they have expanded into different locations. They hold classes in Canggu, Sanur, Nusa Dua, and soon in Seminyak. In Canggu, their schedule is 1 hr from 7:00-8:00 AM, every MWF. Every class is different so don’t worry about getting used to the routine. On most days, the trainers set up a circuit for everyone to get through. As you are working out in the outdoors, the classes make use of a lot of body weight training as well as a few basic equipment like ropes, large tires, kettlebells, bamboo weights, and sandbags.
To the average person who knows nothing about exercising and working out, all you need to now that the classes are heaps of fun. Expect to challenge yourself both physically and mentally as you work to complete each round of training.

The Trainers
One of the things that I love about attending bootcamp classes are the trainers! Gede, Dede, and Fikry are all amazing at what they do. Every session, they tirelessly encourage us to push ourselves harder. They carefully watch us to make sure we’re following the right form and advice us how to best modify exercises to accommodate our injuries. The founder of 2BeFitBali, Gede is an accomplished personal trainer, having trained Olympic medalists in various sports. Knowledgeable in Muay Thai, Boxing, RPM, Body Pump, TRX, and a whole bunch of other fitness qualifications, he’s built 2BeFitBali with the aim to get everyone fit and healthy. If you want to know more about their credentials, you can check it out here.
Apart from the beach boot camps, they also do private personal training! Too lazy to head to the beach? The team behind 2BeFitBali will head to your villa for a private session. So if you’re looking for a way to get fit while in Bali, I highly recommend checking out these boot camps as they are honestly heaps of fun. What about you? How do you stay in shape while traveling?
