Best Bangkok Night Markets to Visit

1. Chatuchak Weekend Market

Location: Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road, Chatuchak, Bangkok 10900, Thailand

Let’s start with one of the largest markets in the city. Chatuchak Weekend Market. I remember visiting this place when I was on a family trip when I was 13. The entire place was overwhelmingly large, chaotic, and brimming with life.

As far as night market’s go, this one closes fairly early but from experience, some stalls still stay open. Chatuchak Weekend Market is typically open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. However, some stalls may open earlier or close later than the official hours.

Additionally, there are some sections of the market that are open on Fridays, such as the plant and flower market, so it’s worth checking the specific section you’re interested in to confirm the opening hours.

Chatuchak Weekend Market is one of the largest and most popular night markets in Bangkok, attracting locals and tourists alike. With over 15,000 stalls selling everything from clothing and accessories to antiques and souvenirs, there’s something for everyone at this massive market.

Foodies will appreciate the market’s extensive selection of street food, including classic Thai dishes like pad thai and green curry. Very few stalls accept credit cards so it’s best to bring cash with you.

If you want to experience the quintessential Thai night market, plus tick off one of the best things to do in Bangkok, Chatuchak is a must.

2. The One Ratchada Night Market

The One Ratchada Night Market is a popular night market located on Ratchadapisek Road, in the heart of Bangkok’s Ratchada district.

Previously, there was a train night market that has since been transformed into this trendy hub of food vendors, clothing stores and more.

This newly reopened market features over 1,000 stalls selling a wide variety of goods, including vintage clothing, accessories, and souvenirs. Foodies will also appreciate the market’s extensive selection of street food, with options ranging from classic Thai dishes to international cuisine.

One of the highlights of the One Ratchada Night Market is its live entertainment, with a variety of performances including music, dance, and comedy. The market is open daily from 6:00 PM to midnight, and it’s a great option for those looking for a lively and diverse night market experience in Bangkok.

With its convenient location near the MRT and plenty of shopping and dining options, the One Ratchada Night Market is a must-visit spot for travelers to the city.

If you’re a vintage enthusiast, this night market in Bangkok is a must visit. Talad Rot Fai Market, also known as the Train Market, is a popular night market located in the Srinakarin area of Bangkok.

The market is known for its vintage and retro items, with vendors selling everything from classic cars and motorbikes to antique furniture and collectibles. Visitors can also find clothing, accessories, and a variety of street food options at the market’s many stalls.

One of the unique features of Talad Rot Fai is its lively atmosphere, with colorful decorations, neon lights, and live music adding to the market’s fun and eclectic vibe. Chang Chui Plane Market

5. Chang Chui Plane Night Market

The Chang Chui Plane Night Market is a unique and quirky night market located on the Thonburi side of Bangkok. The market is built around a decommissioned airplane, which serves as a centerpiece and symbol of the market’s creative and offbeat atmosphere.

The market features a variety of stalls selling clothing, accessories, and souvenirs, as well as street food vendors offering everything from Thai classics to international cuisine. Visitors can also enjoy live music, art installations, and other creative performances at the market’s many stages and open spaces.

One of the market’s highlights is its eco-friendly focus, with many of the vendors and attractions made from recycled and upcycled materials. The Chang Chui Plane Night Market is open daily from 4:00 PM to midnight, and it’s a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a one-of-a-kind night market experience in Bangkok.

We personally don’t recommend visiting until late in the evening as that’s when this night market comes to life. We went there at 4:00pm and some of the stalls were only just opening.

Do make note that the closest MRT Station is Bang Son MRT. From there, it’s a 15 minute taxi ride to the market. But you won’t regret this visit as its such a fun market to wander around.

Other Places to Visit in Bangkok

Once you’ve explored the city’s many night markets and shopping districts and are ready to refuel, there are plenty of street food destinations to check out. From bustling food alleys to more hidden local spots, here are two areas that I recommend exploring.

China Town

7. China Town

Location: Yaowarat Road

While not necessarily a night market, wandering around China town at night is still one of our favorite things to do in Bangkok.

Chinatown in Bangkok is a must-visit spot for foodies, with a vast array of street food stalls serving up some of the city’s best cuisine. Visitors can expect a bustling and lively atmosphere, with neon lights and colorful decorations adding to the street food experience.

Some of the classic dishes to try in Chinatown include dim sum, steamed buns, grilled seafood, noodle soups, and a variety of desserts. Some of the popular stalls to check out include Nai Ek Roll Noodle, which serves up a famous bowl of noodles with pork and fish balls, and Lek & Rut Seafood, which offers an extensive selection of fresh and grilled seafood.

Visitors can also stop by T&K Seafood, which is known for its delicious pad Thai and stir-fried crab with curry powder. For dessert, be sure to check out the popular Guay Jub Ouan Pochana, which serves up a tasty and satisfying bowl of rice noodle rolls in a savory broth.

With so many options to choose from, Chinatown is a food lover’s paradise and a must-visit spot for anyone looking to eat their way through Bangkok’s street food scene.

Khao San Road insect street food

8. Khao San Road

Location: Khwaeng Talad Yot, Khet Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200 Thailand

Lastly, if you want a more “touristy” market, check out Khao San road while in Bangkok. Although more popular for its bars, it’s still a pretty cool place to check out Bangkok’s bustling market nightlife.

Khao San Road is a popular destination for backpackers and tourists, but it’s also a great spot to explore Bangkok’s street food scene.

The area is known for its lively atmosphere and colorful street food stalls, with plenty of options to satisfy any craving. One of the classic dishes to try is the pad Thai, a stir-fried noodle dish with tofu, eggs, and peanuts. Visitors can also find a variety of skewered meats, grilled seafood, and noodle soups at the street food stalls.

Do note that we find the dishes here to be somewhat “westernized” but still delicious. Some of the popular food stalls to check out include Pad Thai Thip Samai, which is famous for its delicious pad Thai, and the street food stall outside the 7-Eleven, which serves up an assortment of skewered meats and sausages.

For dessert, visitors can try the mango sticky rice, a sweet and creamy rice dish topped with fresh mango slices.

Safety Tips for Bangkok’s Night Markets

Visiting Bangkok’s night markets is a great way to experience the city’s vibrant culture and food scene, but it’s important to come prepared to make the most of your visit.

To stay comfortable and safe, it’s recommended to wear comfortable shoes and lightweight, breathable clothing, as many of the markets can get crowded and hot. It’s also a good idea to bring a small backpack or bag to store any purchases or valuables, and to keep an eye on your belongings to avoid pickpockets.

We recommend bringing your own recyclable cloth bag to avoid contributing to the plastic pollution

When it comes to bargaining for prices, it’s important to be respectful and friendly, but also firm in your negotiations to ensure you’re getting a fair deal. It’s also recommended to have an idea of what you’re willing to pay before entering into a negotiation.

You can check out our guide on basic Thai phrases to help you.

Lastly, it’s important to be aware of common tourist scams, such as fake products or overcharging, and to always use common sense and caution when dealing with unfamiliar vendors or situations.

With these tips in mind, visitors can enjoy a safe and enjoyable experience exploring Bangkok’s many night markets.
