Luang Prabang is one of my favorite little towns in Southeast Asia. Between its awesome waterfalls (some of the best in SEA in my opinion), fantastic cheap street food, and quirky cafes this little town is a must-visit for travelers cruising Laos.
I remember so vividly waking up early to witness the monks walk through the city, collecting their alms in their orange-colored robes all while the sun was gently rising above the town.

Located just two minutes away from the Night Market, Downtown Backpackers Hostel is a great option for budget backpackers.
The hotel is still quite new so everything is fresh and clean. It doesn’t have the whole rundown feel that most hostels in Asia have. You can choose from dorm rooms ranging from ten to four beds — we’d suggest springing an extra dollar for a four-bed room! Only only after the rooms modern, clean, and comfy, you even get a privacy curtain and a personal reading light.
Apart from the ideal location, the price is pretty unbelievable as it also comes with free breakfast. Definitely a great place to stay in Luang Prabang.
Set in a large house, Smile LuangPrabang Hostel is another great budget pick in Luang Prabang.
Their all-white dorm rooms are clean, new, and modern so you’ll be sure to have a comfy stay here. With a range of dorms from 10 beds to four beds (and even a female-only dorm!), you can pick the level of privacy you desire. Plus, the rooms here are air-conditioned!
When you’re not in your room, chill out and meet other travelers at the outdoor terrace or the shared lounge. You can also help yourself to free tea and coffee.
For some sightseeing action, you’ll be glad to know that attractions like the National Museum, Night Market, and Wat Xieng Thong aren’t too far away.
This family-run guesthouse is a hidden gem in Luang Prabang.

Looking for an affordable, clean place in Luang Prabang? This family-run guesthouse is a great place to stay for those with a mid-range budget.
Manichan Guesthouse offers private rooms with a hefty dose of warm hospitality. Whether you’re a solo traveler or a small group traveling together, this is an awesome spot to be. The homey rooms are furnished in wood, and some even have views out to the courtyard or garden!
The rooms also come with breakfast included so you can fill up on a hearty meal before you go off exploring. Sites like the National Museum and the Night Market are only a five-minute walk away from the guesthouse.

If you’re looking for a quaint and pleasant place to stay, this is it! Ock Pop Tok is located about 10 minutes away from town and is a great place for those who don’t really want to stay in the main town itself. The hotel provides a free tuk-tuk to the town center during the day which is a nice touch.

Although located a bit far from the center, it’s not a problem; the action is just a walk away and the hotel provides free bikes for guest use.

As you might’ve guessed from its name, Mekong Riverview Hotel boasts of stunning views of the Mekong River which you can enjoy while you have breakfast out in their deck.
This hotel is located at the edge of the Old Town and will offer you lots of local atmosphere. The rooms here are a charming mix of local influences and modern furniture. Comfort is definitely their priority though; all rooms are equipped with Swedish remote control beds which you can use to adjust the height and incline. Fancy!
There’s a pool and spa attached to the hotel that’s located across the river (whaaaaat!) — but no worries, the hotel provides a shuttle that will get you there! They also offer a free shuttle to town. Apart from that, the service of the staff here is really top-notch and will add an extra touch to your stay.

Live it up like royalty at Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel! Once a princely residence, this upscale hotel is located within walking distance to all the main points of interest in Luang Prabang.
The hotel grounds are stunning, with a lovely outdoor pool and garden area perfect for lounging and relaxing. There’s also a spa on-site as well as a restaurant that’s serves French, Laotian and Indo-Chinese cuisine.
If you’ve got the budget to spare, this is definitely one of the best places to stay in Luang Prabang!
