In this article, I’m going to walk you through the best beach clubs in Tulum to make sure you have an unforgettable beach getaway.
Located only two hours away from Cancun, and an hour away from Playa del Carmen, Tulum has become a destination that travelers from all over the world head to for some sun and relaxation.
Contrary to the large all-inclusive hotels that Cancun is known for, Tulum is known for its bohemian beach bars, pretty Instagram-worthy hotels, and of course, incredible beach clubs.
We spent a year living in Mexico and had a few too many relaxing beach days in Tulum, lounging in their many beach clubs.
Naturally, we weren’t able to visit them all but for the purpose of this article, I decided to gather information straight from travel bloggers who have actually visited each spot!
While there are quite a few to choose from, here are a few of the best Tulum beach clubs, recommended by expert travelers.

Casa Malca is a mansion-turned-resort, and the brainchild of New York City art dealer, Lio Malca. It is one of the most notorious Tulum beach clubs because the home itself was once owned by Pablo Escobar.
As you’d imagine being renovated by an art dealer, the interior is basically a work of art. The gorgeous esthetic continues out onto the Casa Malca beach club area, through a lush, tropical sculpture garden.
Walking through Casa Malca’s lobby, you’ll see an interesting mix of contemporary art meets Tulum’s famous boho chic design. Further inside, don’t miss the Keith Haring bar with graphic black and white walls painted in this artist’s signature style, and the Morroccan-inspired Chandelier Room.
The eye candy continues as you make your way out to the beach. Once you exit to walk outside, one of the first things you’ll see is the Instagram worthy Hanging Couch with wedding dress drapes — which makes for an iconic Tulum photo.
Located along some of the most beautiful beachfront real estate in Quintana Roo state, the Casa Malca’s Beach Club vibe is tropical-sexy all the way — exactly what you’d picture from Pablo Escobar’s former mansion. It has the perfect visual mix of brightly-colored hammocks, shaded palapas, rustic teepees and beach beds to lounge on.
A Casa Malca day pass costs about $150USD; $50 of which is your entry fee, and $100 is applied as a food and beverage credit. With your $100 food/drink credit, you can sample something from all of Casa Malca’s three restaurants: Philosophy, Head of a Mad Man and Ambrosia.
The entry cost pays for your access to everything on the beach (chairs, beach beds, hammocks, showers, etc.) and Casa Malca’s three pools — including the infamous Underground Pool.
You can also use select areas of the spa and the Rooftop Terrace, which is an amazing place to enjoy the Tulum sunset. The beachfront area in front of Casa Malca shows off the beauty of Tulum beach and is definitely a must-visit.
2. Ziggy’s Beach Club

Tulum is known for its white sands, beautiful turquoise sea, and dozens of palm trees you can appreciate in awe. Ziggy’s beach club is the perfect spot for soaking it all up, with a wonderfully chilled atmosphere.
If you’re after something a little special, Ziggy’s can arrange a romantic table set up for you and your loved one – making it a fantastic place for couples. Their beachfront area is beautiful and is a great place to enjoy the Tulum’s beach.
Ziggy’s is ultimately a place for comfort, relaxation, a spot of food, and tasty cocktails. They serve food around the clock including breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The cuisine is traditional with a western/European influence, ensuring a robust and plentiful menu for anyone to enjoy. Plus, Ziggy’s is also a popular wedding destination, so I recommend checking your travel dates to ensure they don’t clash with someone’s big day!
There is a minimum spend of $50 per person which includes use of the beds, pool table and access to their restaurant’s food, and drinks. It’s best to get there early as beds tend to fill up fast, especially as most of the grounds are reserved by hotel guests.
As Ziggy’s is located next to Beach Tulum, there are various ways to reach it. From Cozumel Airport, you’ll have to take a ferry across the waters and drive down the Cancun-Chetumal/Carr, which takes just over two hours.
From Tulum Town, taxis are the most common way to get there and are relatively cheap (about $5). You can take the scenic route by cycling (some hotels offer rentals, so it’s worth asking). Or, if you’re up for it, it’s a 45 minute walk which is perfectly doable when the views are this good!

If you’re looking for one of the best rated beach clubs in Tulum, then you have to check out Mia Beach Club. Located in one of the best area of Tulum’s hotel zone, Mia Restaurant & Beach club is the perfect place to unplug, unwind and enjoy some drinks after a long day.
Mia beach club is a modern open-air restaurant and bar where you can enjoy delicious Mexican food, work on your laptop, or rent a sunbed on the beautiful beach. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and have plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options to choose from.
One of the best things about Mia is that it has one of the largest selection of wines in Tulum. They have over 300 labels from different countries for you to enjoy a drink at the beach. If you’re not into wine, you can choose one of the many craft beers they have on the list.
This stylish beach club offers quality Mexican and international food such as tacos, ceviches or hamburgers. They have a minimum spend of $40 per person but if you’re there the whole day, it is worth the $$. It can be a little bit pricey for the area, but the friendly staff will go out of their way to ensure that you are having the perfect day.
Facing the ocean, you’ll find several rows of sunbeds shaded by palm trees. Mia beach club is definitely one of the best places to recharge your batteries on one of the most beautiful beaches in Tulum.
They also have a swimming pool onsite for those who do not enjoy swimming in the ocean. Another important thing to know about Mia beach club is that it is pet friendly. So, don’t miss this place if you are traveling with your furry friend.

4. Mina Beach Club

“When in Tulum and looking for the best beach clubs you have to check out Mina. If you’re staying at the Maria Del Mar next door all you have to do is slip on your flip-flops and take a few steps and you’re at Mina.
Since Mina is situated on a cove, you get views of the ocean rocks and you literally step away from the gorgeous sandy beach. Grab the first table you see or one of the comfy beach loungers if you prefer not to sit yourself down.
You can order food and eat from your sun lounger, or, choose to go inside the restaurant if you want to cool off a little in the shade. The rustic interiors, featuring aged wood and leather accents give the feeling of an authentic beach hut experience.
The waiters speak good English and If you want to brush up on your Spanish conversation, the staff actually appreciate your efforts. There is a minimum spend of $50.
Have you ever tried octopus tacos? They’re kind of a big deal at Mina, and if you have any dietary requirements then there are some delicious vegan/vegetarian options too.
If you arrive during lunch, you’ll see a fire burning out front which is where they barbeque some of the finest cuts of meat this side of the Riviera Maya. Look out for happy hour too where some drinks are two for the price of one, you can’t go wrong!

Nomade is a well-known hotel located along the beach strip in Tulum about 6.5 miles from Tulum Archaeological Area. It is one of the most popular Beach Clubs in Tulum and is frequented by many.
This waterfront property boasts one of the most photogenic beach clubs in Tulum, with gorgeous scenery, boho vibes and a menu with delicious dishes and drinks. Make sure to bring your credit cards because Nomade Tulum is a cashless hotel and only accepts credit cards.
If you are looking for a quiet atmosphere and private beach with comfy sun beds, Nomade Tulum is a perfect place. Nothing is better than sipping a tropical cocktail after jumping out of the turquoise waters.
Guests often call it one of the best day clubs in Tulum, and when you can come here, it’s not hard to see why! There is a $100 minimum spend per person, which is on the steep end but is pretty normal when it comes to Tulum.
The hotel is also a home to a popular outdoor restaurant, La Popular where you can try a variety of seafood dishes. Indoor, you can find Macondo, a Morocco-style restaurant with a beautiful oriental style and plenty of plant-based options.
On top of an excellent beach club, it also has a gorgeous jungle setting with stone-paved trails and tiny pebbles.
Nomade Tulum also has a secluded beach and jungle setting where you can enjoy a tranquil atmosphere and spend days without getting outside thanks to yoga classes, ancient Mayan rituals, traditional temazcal ceremonies that are used for purifying spirits, and cacao ceremonies, among other events.

6. Hip Hotel Beach Club

Located in the southern areas of Tulum, the Hip Hotel is not only a gorgeous place to stay but also the perfect spot to spend a day. The hotel describes itself as a boutique hotel so they definitely emphasise luxury while still having a relaxed and laidback style.
If you’re looking for a gorgeous place to take photos for Instagram or just to show off to your friends then the Hip Hotel Beach Club is the perfect place. The decor is white and beachy with beautiful sunbeds and lots of spots to relax and unwind.
During the day the Hip Hotel is perfect for drinks with friends or lunch but in the evenings it frequently transforms into a party location with regular events such as full moon parties and live DJ sets from popular artists.
What better way to enjoy Tulum than a party on the beach?
The Hip Hotel is also a great spot for delicious meals. The in-house restaurant is known for its upscale menu and especially their unique Mayan cuisine and seafood specialities are not to be missed.
Prices are not the cheapest but still reasonable and the beachfront location more than makes up for the upcharge.
Of course, no trip to a beach club is complete without some cocktails or drinks. The Hip Hotel is known for their incredible Mojitos which are an absolute must-try. The best time to come to the beach club is in the early afternoon when the live music begins and you can enjoy incredible sunset views.
Of course, the earlier you arrive the better your chance will be at a good seat. The sun loungers are free to use if you eat and drink at the club.
The minimum spend is 25$ per person which is easily achieved with drinks and a meal. Don’t miss this gorgeous spot.
7. Playa Paraiso Beach Club

If you want to get away from Tulum strip, one of the best beach clubs in Tulum is Playa Paraiso Beach Club. You find this beach club at Playa Paraiso, which is one of the best beaches in Mexico.
The beach has beautiful white sand that looks incredible. Furthermore, the water has a beautiful shade of blue. This makes the whole place look like paradise!
The beach club is a wonderful place to have a relaxing day at the beach but if you want to be more active, you can also do so as there are several places nearby for snorkeling and scuba diving.
The restaurant at the beach club is wonderful to go to. You can have delicious Mexican dishes, but also international cuisine, and every dish is freshly made.
While there is no entrance fee, they do rent out their beach beds and beach umbrellas which you can rent for a fee (ranges from $200-$300 Mexican Pesos). The rental fee varies but during peak seasons, there is a minimum consumption at the restaurant of the beach club.
Another great thing about this beach club is the Paraiso Spa where you can get a massage right next to the beach. The club is open every day of the year from 10AM till 6PM. During your stay, it’s worth noting that the staff is bilingual, making your stay much more convenient!
8. Punta Piedra

Punta Piedra, located on the northern side of Tulum’s beachfront, is a hotel, restaurant, and beach bar, overlooking the turquoise waters of the Caribbean ocean.
While located in a highly desirable area within just steps of the adorable boutiques and great restaurants that Tulum is known for, Punta Piedra is surprisingly affordable, yet still offers a beach with million dollar views.
Its private beach is so nice, in fact, that Punta Piedra shares it with one of the most posh (and expensive!) hotels in Tulum, Azulik. Another great aspect of this beach bar is that it’s open to non-hotel guests- for free!- so long as you purchase a drink or food.
Note that, because of the location, drink and food prices here are certainly going to be higher as compared to a cerveza from a taqueria in the bustling downtown of Tulum; however, drinks are still much more affordable than most other beach bars in the area.
Despite its affordability, Punta Piedra’s atmosphere is decidedly Instagrammable, with boho beach chic vibes. For example, the bar is adorned with a macrame hammock (complete with fringe, of course); a thatched-roof cabana, strewn with floral pillows; and weathered stone tables, perfect for resting your margarita.
If you’re in need of some refueling, Punta Piedra dishes up some delicious tapas small plates, with significant Italian influences.
Perhaps because of this aspect of the menu, the bar has an impressive wine list, in addition to serving up more traditional beachside cocktails. It is worth noting that Punta Piedra has a calm energy, perfect for lounging by the beach or recovering from a wild night out, but not the place to go to dance the night away.
It’s these casual vibes that makes Punta Piedra so special- its chill and relaxed atmosphere is an awesome representation of what makes Tulum such a uniquely beautiful place.
9. Conestesia

Beach club experience is a must for your Tulum visit. Conestesia in Tulum is one of the most popular beach clubs here, just a perfect setting for a perfect beach party all day.
Unlike other beach clubs which are attached to a hotel, Conestesia is an exclusive beach club only setting which has a perfect bunny theme to it. The entrance of the club is a giant rabbit which you follow to the club, made of straw and pink in color. There are little rabbits placed around the club for that theme.
In Conestesia, they call the experience of getting into a rabbit hole! This place is very famous for Instagram worthy places in Tulum, and is usually busy for a picture with a queue. It is best to get here early as well, as the entrance fee is FREE and it is very popular. This club is a perfect blend of beach and art, to enjoy drinks and food equally while having some beach fun with your mates.
What makes Conestesia perfect for a party is this artistic theme, ambiance, and the team regularly hosts events and parties- keep an eye for them during your visit, by following their Instagram page.
The food and service is great, with some really friendly staff. The drinks are relatively expensive, but they often do 2 for 1 happy hour. DJ is pretty cool here as well and we enjoyed staying a whole day here, during our visit. On the menu, seafood is pretty good if you are into seafood.
If you love art, rabbits and the beach, this is the perfect place for you. If you don’t like art, then you could be put off by the art theme here. Check out this rabbit hole experience while in Tulum to enter into the world of rabbit magic!
10. Akiin Beach Club Tulum

One of the best beach clubs in Tulum is the Akiin beach club. This beach club is beautifully designed and has so much to offer. Besides having a gorgeous beach area where you can relax and eat and drink all day, they also have a cute little shopping boutique area where you can find local clothing and goods to buy.
The shopping area doesn’t stop there, they also have a hair salon, a tattoo shop, and a spa where you can get massages. Like most beach clubs in Tulum, they do have a 1,000MXN ($50) minimum to use the beach club area for the day. But meeting the minimum is totally worth it because the food is delicious and the drinks are well made.
They even have a nice selection of vegetarian options. The service is also excellent at Akkin, and they have a DJ playing fun music in the evenings.
Akkin is located right in the middle of the hotel zone of Tulum and the beach is absolutely gorgeous here! Overall, Akkin is a great choice when looking for a beach club to spend the day at in Tulum.
11. Coco Tulum Beach Club

Beach Club Cons: If you’re looking for a chilled atmosphere, this place is better known for its partying.
Coco Beach Club is the place to be in Tulum if you want to combine partying, the sand and the water. It is centrally located along Tulum Beach which makes it easy to get around and visit some of Tulum’s tourist attractions.
You won’t also miss the beach club because of the all white theme and interior. The cabanas and lounging areas by the beach are beautifully decorated with house music pumping in the background all day long.
A popular venue for some of the hippest parties in town, this beach club features international DJs, intensive cocktails and drink menus, and great food (the best fish tacos I had in my frequent trips to Mexico).
I enjoyed my stay at Coco Tulum Beach Club due to the great vibe, yoga session, spa services and great customer service over all. It’s good to be able to enjoy a nice sleep in a beautiful bungalow by the beach and to wake up in crashing waves.
My mornings also started with a great session of yoga by the beach followed by amazing breakfast and a dip to some of the most amazing beaches in the Caribbean.
There are lots of activities within the beach club and also around it – from water sports such as kite surfing, cenotes hunting, exploring ruins or enjoying a sauna – there’s something for everyone here. And after a full day of adventures and fun, you can just let your hair down and party by the beach at night.
The beach club caters to honeymooners and younger crowd so if you’re looking for a quiet place, this place might not be up your alley. It is relaxing, yes, but it’s also a beach club and loud music can be heard all throughout the property.
Booking a room in Coco Tulum is also on the pricier side, given that I have stayed in much nicer places in Playa Del Carmen and Cancun. It is $200+ for rooms that don’t have private bathrooms and almost double that price for rooms with bathroom and on the ocean’s side. But the view and the service make up for it.
For those looking to just spend the day here, you can opt for a day pass instead to use the sun loungers and enjoy the scenery. I’m not 100% sure about the prices now but I heard it’s between 800 Mexican Pesos ($40).
Coco Tulum is expensive but it’s the combination of the party and the zen vibes that made this place special.
12. Papaya Playa Project

Papaya Playa Project has instant wow factor and is widely known as one of the coolest hotels in Tulum. Created by Emilio Heredia, a lover of yoga, karate, and the Tao, it’s infused with his spiritual learnings and fashioned in a style he calls “primitive sophistication”.
A focus on sustainability and a rustic, boho vibe set it apart from some of Tulum’s more glitzy beach clubs. And while it started life as a pure eco retreat, it was upgraded in 2011 to become a member of Design Hotels and more of a barefoot luxury resort.
That said, Papaya Playa Beach Club stays true to its origins and still has a huge variety of accommodation for different budgets. Those on a budget can stay in cabanas with bunk beds, or if you’re looking to splurge there are ocean view casitas with rooftop pools and even beachfront villas complete with butler service. It’s style is stunning and I’d choose it over one of the five-star resorts any day.
The location is also spectacular on pristine white beach and next to the only Mayan ruins on the sea. And of course, it’s just steps from Tulum’s gorgeous sea.
The beach club and restaurant is a popular spot even for those not staying at Papaya Playa Project. By day, it’s a perfect chillout spot, and by night, it’s one of Tulum’s most popular clubs, continuing the chilled out vibes but with pumping music amid the palms.
They have a minimum consumption of 1000 Mexican Pesos ($50 USD) per person. The menu at the club is all ceviche, tacos, and fresh plates. Plus the cocktails are amazing. There’s also a restaurant on site, Roca, which serves raw and seafood bowls.
Finally, don’t miss the spa, which offers traditional alternative therapies as well as ancient Mayan techniques. There’s a traditional temazcal steam bath on site. You can also do yoga sessions at sunset, and there’s a program of activities including ecstatic dance and kundalini yoga.
Remember there are no plug sockets, so this really is a place to truly switch off.
Bonus Beach Club NEAR Tulum
If you’re looking for something a little bit more low-key and relaxed, you can also head a little bit further and visit one of the most beautiful beaches within the area.
13. Xpu-Ha Beach Club

One of the best beach clubs in Tulum is actually outside of the city, a short jaunt away. Situated on a prime stretch of sand on Playa Xpu-Ha, 30 minutes away from Tulum, Xpu-Ha Beach Club makes a fantastic excursion if you’re looking for a day trip away from the crowds.
The easiest way to get there is by renting a car but it’s also possible (and more economical) to hop on one of the shuttle vans headed to Playa del Carmen and ask to be dropped off on the highway. It’s just past Puerto Aventuras and Hotel Catalonia Royal Tulum so watch for the marker.
From there, it’s a short walk to La Playa Xpu-ha Beach Club. Admission is 50 pesos per person, reimbursable if you spend 200 pesos a person.

The beach club features palapas, chairs and tables, showers, washrooms and lockers (extra fee). Top things to do include soaking up the sun, snorkeling, swimming and enjoying water sports such as kite-surfing at one of the kiosks that rent equipment.
It is really one of the most tranquil beach clubs in the area.
A highlight of a day at Xpu-Ha Beach Club is sampling some fresh seafood. Menu highlights include appetizers such as fish ceviche, a platter of crispy nachos with shrimp and guacamole or shrimp cocktail bursting with lime, avocado, cilantro and onion.
Mains include shrimp pasta, burgers, whole fish and grilled arrachera steak served with refried beans. It’s got one of the most extensive menus of the many beach clubs in Riviera Maya.
