Alisea Boutique Hotel Review: A Relaxing Retreat in Krabi

written by local expert Becky Rogers

Becky is an avid rock climber and outdoor enthusiast and is now living in France as an expat. When she is not writing about travel gear and various destinations she has visited during her travels, you can find her playing with her two dogs.

After leaving the party island of Koh Phi Phi, we were really looking forward to a relaxing few days upon our arrival in Krabi. Enter the Alisea Boutique Hotel. Although it is known as an urban resort, when we arrived we knew it was exactly what we wanted – a beautiful hotel perfectly located by the city and the sea. Located on the hillside with stunning views and a short walk to the beach, we had the best of both worlds but actually ended up spending our whole time relaxing in the comfort of the hotel.

The Alisea Boutique Hotel

With free transport from the ferry to the hotel, we stepped into a large, spacious lobby grateful for the shade from the sun and even more grateful for the friendly staff who greeted us. The staff of Alisea Boutique Hotel really made our stay, they were always approachable and helpful and greeted us every time we walked past their desk. Upon check in, we were given refreshing welcome drinks and a really nice welcome letter from the Manager. I really loved this personal touch as it set the vibe of hotel right from the start.

Taking their time (and giving us time to cool down!), the staff gave us a brief summary of the hotel and its amenities while we sat in the very minimalist and fashionable lobby area. The hotel offers an infinity pool and pool bar, a spa, a private beach and beach club, a private cinema and it’s own restaurant that provides a buffet breakfast, Asian Tapas and amazing Italian cuisine! alisea-hotel

The Superior Rooms at Alisea Boutique Hotel

For two nights we stayed in one of the Alisea Boutique Hotel’s superior rooms. Like the rest of the hotel, the room was very minimalist and stylish with the perfect amount of natural light. When the evening came around, the lights themselves were very soft as well which I loved as unnatural lighting really hurts my eyes. The room was a very good size with a TV and refrigerator, private balcony and twin beds or a double bed depending on what you choose. The beds were extremely comfortable! Upon walking in, the sizeable bathroom was to our left which was modernly decorated with a huge walk in shower. The shower also had a ceiling head so you could opt for a “rain shower” if you so choose. We ended up using this feature more than we needed just because it was so amazing!

The Other Rooms at Alisea Boutique Hotel

As well as the superior rooms where we stayed, Alisea Boutique Hotel has two other types of rooms: loft suites and the honeymoon suites. The loft suites are simply luxurious. With two floors and a separate living space, the suites include a private roof terrace with a couple’s outdoor onset bathtub and panoramic terrace views. Decorated with the warm Mediterranean style of the hotel on the inside with the natural beach and rainforest scenery outside, there is no wonder why these rooms are so popular amongst travelers.

The Facilities of Alisea Boutique Hotel

Out of all the facilities the hotel offered, we used the infinity pool and the pool bar the most. Although we were relaxing, sitting by the pool under a shaded umbrella with a cocktail in hand was also the perfect place to do some work in the day before happy hour came around at half past 4. One thing I have to say is that this happy hour was perfect for couples! Their promotion was ‘buy a cocktail get a beer free’ which was spot on. Talking of promotions, they also had a really cool promotion in the restaurant where you had complimentary tapas and an aperitif (mimosa) when you bought a drink!

Alisea Boutique Hotel Review

The Italian restaurant was also where we spent a lot of our time. During the day, a breakfast buffet is served where you can choose between the traditional Thai breakfast, eggs, bacon, pancakes or every kind of pastry, cereals, or fruits you can think of. It was really nice to get up in the morning and head down for a much needed coffee and pastry without walking around to find a place. In the evening, the restaurant served Umberto’s Italian cuisine which was very fitting with the rest of the hotels Mediterranean-al fresco atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was the right amount of social chit chat. Definitely worth eating here if you stay!

We recommend ordering the:

  • The Four Cheese Penne
  • Spagetti Carbonara
  • Any of the burgers!

Our Overall Experience at Alisea Boutique Hotel

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Alisea Boutique Hotel. It was a completely relaxing two days spent by the pool, ordering really tasty pool side snacks with good WI-FI and even better cocktails. Everything was so convenient here. If you didn’t have everything you needed in the hotel, you were a 2 minute walk away from a 7/11 and street food stalls, 5 minutes away from Aonang and Nopparat Thara beaches or a complimentary 10-minute drive away from their private beach. There was even a stall on the doorstep of the hotel where we booked our taxi back to the airport! Everything about our stay was easy here and the staff really made us feel at home.
